From hull number to charter log:
yacht ownership history in one record.
Motor and sailing yachts, superyachts, sports boats and RIBs, cruisers, canal boats and narrowboats, houseboats, catamarans, classic vessels, fishing and commercial boats, charter fleets, jet skis. A Vault holds the yacht documentation - the registration, the builder, the hull identification number, the engines, the survey reports, the refits, the insurance, the marina and the ownership. It is the Owner's boat ownership history, read under scope, never a public lookup by hull number - and, through regulated issuers, a route to shared ownership and finance.

Anything that floats and is owned.
A narrowboat and a superyacht share one record type: the same yacht ownership records for a RIB and a 40-metre motor yacht. Designed to support marine assets - register interest.

Yacht documentation: the folder that changes hands with the boat, sealed.
A yacht ownership history begins with its natural keys - hull identification number, registration, builder and model - held off-chain, never published. Registration is not title and a yacht survey report is only as current as its date, so each is an event with its issuer and date. Documents are hashed on upload and given an integrity receipt, under one digital asset identity for the vessel.

What is built for marine
The record is built and switched off until a registering partner is on board: hull identification held encrypted, never public; UK Ship Register Part I and SSR Part III registration held as evidence with its date - registration is not title; the survey as an event with its surveyor and date; and custody at marinas and yards as verified manual workflows - a dated entry by the yard or marina with sealed evidence. Nothing here is a lookup: the ship register stays the public record of registration and the Vault never touches it.
What yacht ownership records should include.
A broker, a buyer's surveyor, an insurer and a finance house each ask for the same folder; most of it exists only as the seller kept it. The Vault seals each document to its issuer and date and carries the yacht ownership history to the next Owner.
Nothing here is a lookup: the ship register remains the public record of registration, and the Vault never touches it.
Identity, registration and title

Condition and life afloat
- Yacht survey reports - pre-purchase, insurance and out-of-water - each with its surveyor and date
- Engine serials, hours and service invoices from the yard
- Lift, antifoul, rigging and refit records with yard specifications and invoices
- Marina and berth agreements, charter seasons and incident reports
- Valuations for insurance and finance
Issued by the yard that did the work. Read by those who carry the liability.
Owners grant every scope on their record; opens are logged.
Who registers
- Yacht brokers - the sale and hand-over, through Pro and the Provenance Passport, both launching.
- Marine surveyors - condition and valuation.
- Boatyards and marinas - lifts, services, refits, incidents.
- The Owner - the log, the receipts, the photographs.
Who reads, under scope
- Buyers and their surveyors - what exists and who issued it.
- Insurers - at quotation and at claim: the last survey, by whom.
- Finance houses - under a lender-valuer scope.
- Charter managers - the fleet in one Business Vault.
- Flag registries - the documents behind a registration.

A verification score - whether the documents exist, who issued them and that they are unaltered since issue; never a valuation, a credit input or a judgement of the work.

Every event, document and owner, sealed and graded by who issued it: a surveyor's report outranks a yard's invoice, which outranks an Owner's photograph. That is yacht provenance the next buyer can read.

Structures
- Shared ownership through an SPV or trust
- Charter-income participation, logged in the record
- Marine finance from regulated lenders, who assess the verified Vault - see borrow against assets
In every structure Property Vault supplies the Vault ID, Verified History, Vault Score and eligibility data; it never hosts an offer, gates holders, runs a venue, holds keys or moves money. A pointer token is a pointer, never title; the ship register wins.

The folder today
- Certificate, registration and survey from different years, none vouching for the others; the boat ownership history is whatever the seller kept.
- Engine hours in a handwritten log; the buyer's surveyor starts from nothing.
The Vault instead
- Every document sealed, named to its issuer and date; the whole history on one timeline.
- Read under a scope the Owner grants; carried to the next Owner at sale.

Yacht ownership history: common questions
Lookups, documentation, surveys and registration - short answers.
What is a yacht ownership history in Property Vault?
The Owner's own record of a vessel: hull identification number, registration, builder and model held off-chain as natural keys; the yacht documentation - surveys, service, refits, insurance, berth, charter - sealed on upload with an integrity receipt; and every change of owner as an event with history intact. It is the same asset provenance record every class uses.
Can I check a boat's ownership history by hull identification number?
No. There is no public lookup by hull identification number, registration or name. Each yacht ownership history is private by default; the Owner grants time-limited, role-limited scopes to a buyer's surveyor, an insurer or a finance house, and every open is logged.
What yacht documentation should I keep?
The builder's certificate and declaration of conformity, the registration certificate, bills of sale, VAT status evidence, every survey report with its date, engine and service records, refit specifications and invoices, insurance and berth agreements, and the charter log where the vessel is chartered. Each is sealed to its issuer and date in the Vault.
Is a yacht survey report valid forever?
No. A survey is only as current as its date, so each one is an event with its surveyor and date; the record shows how old the last out-of-water survey is and who carried it out. The Vault Score is a verification score - whether the documents exist, who issued them and that they are unaltered since issue; never a valuation, a credit input or a judgement of the work.
How is vessel registration recorded in a yacht ownership history?
As an event with its issuer and date: UK Ship Register Part I or Part III, or the flag state's register, with the certificate sealed on upload. Registration is not title. The ship register wins on any conflict, and the Vault never touches it.
Is the Marine class live?
Marine: designed to support marine assets - register interest. The sequence is Property (live in pilot), then watches and jewellery, then Vehicles, then Marine, each launching with the partners who register it; no class carries a launch date. Brokers and charter managers will run fleets in asset register software through Pro, launching.
